To get there, take the Transistmic Road and turn right at the Sabanita exit, as you do to get to Portobelo, following Up Coast, where you can find signaling directing you to Langosta and Maria Chiquita beach famous for the clear and shallow waters.
Along the road that takes approximately 2 hours from Panama City, you can find picturesque restaurants and places to practice diving. Knowing this you have two options: to travel straight trough to la Guaira where you take the boat transportation to the island or
Leave home with enough time stop and visit some places or give in into the delicious temptations on the way. Few kilometers before the town of la Guaira, you will find the San Felipe Church in Portobelo, obligatory stop to the followers of the Miraculous Black Christ.
The ruins of the forts with its rusted cannons and the Custom House evoke the old open markets and are silent witnesses to the tragic destiny of this once powerful colonial city on the hands of ambitious pirates.
Waters of a amazing transparency , white sand and leafy foliage stand out in the landscape, while the boat cuts trough the weaves towards the island, on the far side you can find a secret, the Bananas Village Resort.
